What’s up with this?
deciBel Grooves is an album of Futuristic Neo-Soul and Trip-Hop Pop songs. They are freedom-forward, decidedly democracy-leaning, looking to change the world with imminently danceable beats, edgy hooks, a broad spectrum of lyrical themes, often cleverly disguised as love songs. When powerful factions embrace hate and cruelty, Love songs are songs of revolt. The deciBel Grooves LP brings them.
dB: Ladies and gentlemen, this one’s a Love song in as much as…
Audience + dB: They’re all Love songs.
The grooves are delivered by deciBel’s engaging live shows, combining seasoned showmanship and imaginative imagery through multimedia video enhancement.
Sometimes, songs from the TorchHop collection make their way into deciBel Grooves shows. This deciBel side project adds standards, classics and local gems reimagined with a blast of Trip Hop. Imagine Nat King Cole meets DJ Shadow at a Jimi Hendrix tribute show.
dB: You might’ve heard this one before, but…
Audience + dB: You never heard it like this.
Hip-shaking, neck-breaking, baby-making beats connecting the audience with each other and with the world. That’s what grooves do. That’s what deciBel Grooves bring.
Who dis?
You know yer boi, dB; a veteran, multi-instrumental singer-songwriter performing a broad range of styles, starting with AME church music and classical as a pre-teen to Grunge, Funk (eventually becoming Grunge-Funk), Reggae, Ska, Dub, Soul and beyond.
As an infamous frontman for The Estranged, Blue Marble Beat, the-nerve, Dread 34, Sound System Seven (nee Archbishops of Blount Street), the North Carolina Triangle and the Triad areas saw yer boi build opening acts feared by their headliners throughout the Southeastern seaboard.
deciBel Grooves started as TorchHop, a collaboration with Emmy-award winning DJ/producer, Apple Juice Kid, updating standards and classics with Trip Hop aesthetics. The partnership quickly evolved, growing into new original songs that are difficult to pigeonhole yet easily accessible.
It’s yer boi. Get to know him. Then, get your groove on.
